PBSA has two goals.  First, to sponsor and participate in competitive sailboat racing amongst our members and other local sailing organizations; and second, to encourage participation in recreational and educational activities that develop friendships, seamanship and sportsmanship, while acting to preserve our amazing local marine environment here in the bucolic Peconic Bays nestled between the North and South Forks of Long Island.

PBSA is an integral part of the East End Sailing community, hosting not only a well attended summer racing series, but also the East End's largest Regatta of the sailing season.
Near the Finish line at the 2009 Whitebread
Since its inception The Whitebread 'Round the Whirl, a parody of the Whitbread Around the World Regatta, has taken competitors on a 32 mile course around Shelter Island and back to New Suffolk culminating in what's arguably the best "After Race Party" in the region. The Whitebread  has grown from a handful of sailors who conceived the idea in a local watering hole, to a fleet once of over 120 boats with homeports from Florida to Nova Scotia.

Our volunteer run club, with its core belief in sharing of knowledge among members, makes for a friendly atmosphere in which all who wish to improve their skills
and performance can't help but do so.
Social activities are a year-round occurrence both on and
off the water.  This makes the Peconic Bay Sailing Association the ideal group for both full time and seasonal residents to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow sailing enthusiasts on Long Island's East End.
